Paradise Kiss
Finished Paradise Kiss. Overall its a good experience if you want to see a lot of romance cliches taken to their tragic conclusion. Its an interesting read, and for the most part not as depressing as it sounds. Although there are parts where I just wanted to shout "break up already" at the main couple. Though I admit the ending knocked me over. Mostly I figured Yuriko's taking a level in being a strong, independent girl would mean she'd get over George eventually. But I think only Arashi is the one without unrequited love. Technically Miwako loved Hiro for most of the series, though she seemed very happy with Arashi. Its interesting to see so much growth from the bulk of the cast, and while they move on, they sort of don't. IDK, I guess life really would suck if no one got over their child/highschool loves. On the other hand, I really do love happy endings so this ending left me sort of empty. Still a good read. Though I wish there had been more Isabella stuff. Loved her so much.

Now that I can actually articulate myself besides, yay weird girl humor! IDK, I really love how the cast is very different from Gokusen. Yet there's still the feel. I can't wait for each character to get their story. Though mostly Yanagi. He seems like someone to have an epic back story. We actually got Ichiko's and kind of funny how the significance will probably be revealed to cast much later. And for laughs. I really do enjoy her, both because she is so different from Yamaguchi-sensei (Gokusen) yet still has a lot of the weird girl charm I don't really see in many heroines.
Gokusen
I am rereading. I'm picking up on a lot of the jokes I'd forgotten over the years. Apparently the newest chapters are out, so I finally finished it (though I spoiled myself with the special). IDK, I really love this comic. Its just a chock full of ordinarily bizarre humor. Mostly low brow stuff, but occasionally some clever stuff. Its hard to describe. Kumiko is one of my favorite protags ever. Mostly because she reminds me of me, oddly enough. Though my life has a lot less awesome beatdowns. Watching the art style shift is also neat. I didin't even recognize chapter 1 Shin since his hair changes so much. Though the others are pretty recognizable since they aren't bishonen.
As for the new chapters I really love the final boss one, and confession. The final boss is Kumiko kicking more ass, and a complete acceptance from her students. Confession is Kumiko acting hilariously bizarre to Shin's confession that he's going to law school just to replace Shinohara (the old lawyer) along with being in love with her. I really enjoy how Shin recognizes how bizarre Kumiko is, but is still pressing on anyways. I find it really touching. Maybe its honesty in a romance, when plenty of others are all about finding all the positive and ignoring the negative of a person while Shin's love is an acceptance of the whole package. Speaking of Shinohara, the scene where he leaves is pretty sad. Though it was nice to see a heroine cry with puffy eyes, red face, and snot coming out of her nose.
