Day 04 - Your favorite book or series ever
The Fablehaven series. I did a brief blurb here, so now I'm just going to fangirl over the parts I loved to avoid being repetitive.
The characters. I really love them all. There's Seth who I hated at first, but now I love him because of his continuing struggle with his impulsiveness. IDK, I think it takes some talent to make an obnoxious character, well not. Then Kendra. She's kind of just awesome all around. She is basically the smart, sensible girl but she learns that sometimes you need to take risks to get ahead. My top three side characters are Vanessa, Sphinx, and Gavin (which are all hidden "baddies" funnily enough). All of them are clever in their own rights. Though Sphinx is probably at the top. One concern I do have is Gavin's downfall was a bit on the overly moustache twirly side, but up until the reveal I like how there are hints here and there so you can figure out the ~mystery~.
NGL, its probably not the best piece of writing. Its pretty decent on pacing and making every scene count. Though the feel of the first book along with the rest of the series is a bit different. Mostly I just like the mixture of gritiness yet hopefulness. Heroes succeed and fail. Villains succeed often. Bad things happen yet good too. Its generally uplifting even when things hit the fan.
